Scripture is inspired by God and is trustworthy for belief and practice. The Holy Spirit speaks through the written Word to give new life to the church and help us grow in faith. Humanity has disobeyed God and chosen to sin. God sent Jesus Christ to the world so that all who repent and believe in Him could receive forgiveness of sin, life change by the power of the Holy Spirit, and eternal life with God. Followers of Jesus "walk the talk". Believer's baptism symbolizes the voluntary decision of a young person or adult to live as a disciple of Jesus Christ as demonstrated by both word and deed. God sends the church out to bring "good news" to all people. "The Spirit of the Lord... has anointed me to bring good news to the poor,... freedom for the prisoners, and recovery of sight for the blind." Luke 4:18 Christians need each other for encouragement and growth, for confronting one another in a supportive way, for help in time of crisis. We are a community of faith that grows in unity, service, and witness as we love and care for one another. We believe that peace is the will of God. Led by the Holy Spirit, we follow Christ in the way of love, doing justice, bringing reconciliation, and practicing nonresistance, even in the face of violence. As members of the body of Christ, we try to care for one another's spiritual, emotional, and physical needs. The church shares its resources with those in need.
